FACT SHEET ON WET DISTILLERS GRAINS AND DRY DISTILLERS GRAINS


1. BRIEF HISTORY OF GOLDEN TRIANGLE ENERGY IN CRAIG, MISSOURI

a. Plant History: The plant was built in 2001 and produces fuel grade ethanol (to be blended with gasoline to make it burn cleaner and to reduce harmful emissions.)
b. Size of Plant: It produces 20 million gallons of ethanol annually
c. Daily Production
Capacity of Wet Distillers: 18 semi loads = 450 tons

d. Quality of Product: Many customers say it is the best they have ever used.
e. Plant Operation: 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
f. Shutdowns for
Preventative Maintenance: Generally 2 per year for 3-4 days each

g. Feedgrain Used: 100% corn (no milo or other grains)

3. THE PLANT SELLS APPROXIMATELY:
a. 85% of feed as WET DISTILLERS
b. 15% of feed as DRY DISTILLERS

4. LOADING HOURS:
a. WET DISTILLERS = 24 / 7
b. DRY DISTILLERS = Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

5. TRUCKING: The majority of the feed is delivered by our trucking company which is Holliman Trucking. The WET FEED is delivery on Paddle Wagon trailers that walk the product off the back of the trailer. End Dump trailers also work well with WET FEED. Hopper bottom grain trailers cannot be used on WET FEED. We also have some customers who like to pick up their feed with their own trucks.
6. AVAILABILITY:
a. Limited availability of WET for this Winter.
b. Limited availability of DRY for this Winter.

PERCENTAGE DRY MATTER - 33%
PERCENTAGE MOISTURE - 67%

TAG GUARANTEES: PROTEIN 9.5% as recd. 33% on Dry Matter Basis
FAT 3.5% as recd. 11% on Dry Matter Basis

CONSISTENCY OF PRODUCT = Excellent (very little varience)

SHELF LIFE: SUMMER 8-10 days (surface mold begins)
* Note - Plant adds All Tech Mold Inhibitor in summer months

WINTER 14-21 days

PRICE: $26.00 per ton plus freight = Delivered Price


BENEFITS & COMMENTS FROM CUSTOMERS:

1. Wet Distillers is a nutritious feed with excellent levels of both Protein & Natural Fat
2. Due to the natural fat - Wet Distillers has 125-130% the energy value of corn (on Dry Matter Basis)
3. Very Palatable - cattle like the taste and smell
4. The Yeast / Alcohol taste seems to stimulate the appetite
5. Increases consumption and total feed intake = better gains
6. Better bunk management and fewer dust problems
7. Better herd health - reduced acidosis - less death loss
8. Improved body condition and appearance
9. Works well with hay, (conditions the hay), and adds moisture to the ration

RATIONS FED BY SOME OF OUR EXISTING CUSTOMERS:

1. BACKGROUNDING:
a. 350 pound calves - Ration consisting of 60% Wet Distillers, 30% Ground Alfalfa Hay and a 10% Premix / Balancer. (No corn in this ration). Start cattle at 3-4 pounds of Wet Distillers and work up to 18 pounds for 650 pound cattle.

2. FINISHING:
a. Generally Wet Distillers is fed at 25-30% of ration on "As Fed Basis."
b. Typical ration for an 825 pound yearling steer is 55% rolled corn, 28% Wet Distillers, 14% Silage, 3% Premix / Balancer. (This ration is 66% dry and 34% wet).

DISTILLERS DRIED GRAINS (DDG)


PERCENTAGE DRY MATTER - 90%
PERCENTAGE MOISTURE - 10%

TAG GUARANTEES: PROTEIN 26% as recd. 33% on Dry Matter Basis
FAT 10% as recd. 12% on Dry Matter Basis

CONSISTENCY OF PRODUCT: Excellent
FLOWABILITY: Good (but not as smooth as grain)
SHELF LIFE: Good (can store for long periods of time)

PRICE: Current Price = $90.00 for Winter month (Oct - Mar)


BENEFITS & COMMENTS FROM CUSTOMERS:

1. DDG has high levels of both PROTEIN and NATURAL FAT
2. DDG is very palatable and cattle go on feed very well with it.
3. It has a nice (molasses-type smell) and many feedmills use it to "condition their feed"
4. DDG is very available digestively to the animal (because it has been broken down and pre-digested in the ethanol production process) - therefore the animal does not have to work as hard to digest the feed.
5. Result = better gains that by using traditional corn rations. (See attached article)
6. DDG from the Golden Triangle Plant in Craig, MO has the reputation of being the best quality DDG available

TYPICAL RATIONS:

3. BACKGROUNDING:
a. DDG fed as approximately 15% of ration with Ground Corn / Milo, Ground Hay, Silage and Mineral Package (many simply back 10-15% of the corn out of their existing ration and substitute DDG)
b. With good grass management programs some customers feed DDG in 6-8 pound piles on grass. They report very little waste and excellent results.
